| Here are some pictures I took at Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National park in northern Tasmania on Monday 29th of December 1997.
Cradle Mountain is a part the Tasmania Wilderness World Heritage Area and it "...epitomises the feel of a wild landscape. Icy streams cascade out of rugged mountains, stands of ancient pines mirrored in the still waters of glacial lakes and a wealth of wildlife ensure there is always something to captivate you." |

Dove Lake with the peaks of Cradle Mountain behind.
Cradle Mountain peaks as seen from the Overland Track,
just a few minutes past Marions Lookout.

The Overland Track... with Tony rushing ahead of me (as always!)

Andy on the Face Track looking east.

Spotted these nice little 'flowery' things... hey, I'm a videoeditor, not a botanist!

Some more interesting plants as we walk along the Face Track.

On the Face Track, Tony finds the almost nonexistent trail.

Andy after climbing between the two peaks.

Lake Wilks in the foreground and Dove lake behind it looking north.

Andy rests his weiry bod in the Ballroom Forest
before heading back to the carpark, another hours walk.

Looking back where we'd been... we can down the mountainside
and into the Ballroom Forest on the right.

Dove Lake shore line.
